I'm a freelance English <-> Spanish translator
based in Los Angeles.
As the child of a Spanish-speaking mother who loved to travel, I started traveling to Spain and Mexico at a very young age. It wasn't until college that I started studying Spanish in earnest, earning a double major in Spanish and English and participating in various summer study abroad programs in Spain. After a 20-year career teaching Spanish at the high school level and developing content for online Spanish courses, I decided to earn a masters in Translation Studies. Although I have strong language skills, I wanted to learn the methodology behind translation and how I can use those methods to create high-quality translations for my clients. I specialize in the translation of educational materials, such as e-learning content, and employee manuals.

Translation
Being a good translator doesn't only require strong language skills. The translator must also understand how the translated text will be used, who the target audience is, and how to create translations that accurately convey the client's message in another language. I will bring these skills to your translation project along with my cultural knowledge and knowledge of different dialects of Spanish, for example Spanish spoken in Mexico versus Spanish spoken in Spain.
Subtitling
If your company uses brief tutorial videos for instructional purposes, I am able translate the text and create subtitles. Having subtitles for your instructional or social media videos will help you reach a broader audience with your content.
